Praia do Amado (Portimão): sunrise and sunset near Praia da Rocha
There are two beaches called Praia do Amado in the Algarve: the one on the Costa Vicentina, near Carrapateira (Aljezur), known for surfing, and this one, in Portimão, close to Praia da Rocha. This guide is about the Portimão one.
Where Praia do Amado is in Portimão
It is in the municipality of Portimão, in the cliff area next to Praia da Rocha and close to Praia dos Três Castelos. It is a good choice if you are staying near Praia da Rocha and want a quieter beach just minutes away.
How to get there
The easiest way is by car, with parking near the beach. From the car park you go down to the sand by a staircase, so access is not suitable for people with reduced mobility. If you enjoy walking, you can also follow the pedestrian and cycle path along the top of the cliff towards the Três Castelos viewpoint.
What to bring
According to the information available, the beach has few facilities, so bring water, food and sun protection. There is a restaurant at nearby Praia dos Três Castelos. Conditions change from season to season, so it is worth checking access and sea conditions on the day.
